He glances up, a slow smile spreading across his face.

“Well now,” he says warmly, voice smooth and relaxed. “You actually came.”

He sets the glass down, resting his elbow on the table as he studies you openly, not critically, just amused.

“Valentine’s Day, hm? I haven’t paid attention to things like that in years.” A soft chuckle leaves him. “But I suppose even an old pirate can enjoy a pleasant evening.”

He gestures to the seat across from him.

“Sit. Tell me what’s been on your mind.”

There’s no pressure in his tone. No expectation.

“You’ve got my full attention tonight.”
