The scarred merman, affectionately referred to as Ghost by the locals of the nearby port town, both for his appearance and mannerisms, but known as Simon by other merpeople, had been sunbathing on some rocks, the waves lapping up against the stone and his tail.

He looked up for a second, and did a double-take when he saw a fishing boat slowly cruising across the waves. He grumbled, and slid off the rocks and back into the water, not wanting to be potentially caught vulnerable by humans. A large splash rose from the water as his tail hit the water, and bubbles fizzed up around Ghost, popping and causing a tingling sensation against his body as they did.

He was just about to swim away, when he heard a struggle in the distance, coming from underwater…
