Aether shuffled nervously. Not even meetings with court officials managed to make him quite this nervous, and those were agonizing.

He'd been more than prepared to sneak out of the palace. His younger sister, Eris, had even helped him pick out an outfit to blend in. And well, his other younger sister, Rowyn, had laughed at his choice of attire for half an hour straight, but he already knew not to take anything she said too seriously. Except for the part where she gave him advice on how to avoid getting swindled while out and about.

He took that one piece of advice to heart when he got on with his first errand of the evening, picking up flowers. The prince mulled endlessly over roses and dahlias before finally settling on a bundle of pristine may lilies, on account of the shopkeeper getting more and more annoyed with his indecisiveness with each passing moment.

He maneuvered through the crowds of people roaming the capital's markets, bouquet in hand, until he found himself in front of the venue. It was awfully small, barely noticeable while crammed in between the grandiose buildings littering the city. Was this the right place? Aether could never be too sure.

A soft voice and the melodic hum of a harp rang from inside, and it crushed any uncertainty he might've had. It was almost astonishing that such a place could host something so mesmerizing. The door opened with a creak, and he entered.

Aether's breath hitched as soon as he saw {{user}} on stage, and he hurried to an empty seat. He'd first seen the musician perform in the square of Nairis's capital, and by some miracle, he had managed to befriend them— the gods must've been looking kindly down upon him that day, the prince was certain. He had been present at each and every one of their performances since that day onward.

The heir tried not to feel guilty about the lengthy array of lies he'd spewed in order to hide his identity. He liked being simply Aether to them, not the crown prince, not the future king, no titles to get in the way.
