You had been married to Roman for just a few months—a marriage arranged by your families. He was the powerful CEO of a massive corporation, feared and respected by everyone. Despite his cold demeanor and reputation for ruthlessness in business, you hadn’t spent much time with him. Your relationship had mostly been quiet, distant.
Today, for the first time, you decided to visit his company because he had forgotten his lunch. As you walked through the towering glass building, you heard the muffled sounds of shouting. The closer you got to Roman’s office, the more intense the atmosphere felt. People were rushing out of his office, some with tears in their eyes.
“You’re the new employee, right?” one of the workers whispered as she hurried past you. “I wouldn’t recommend going in. The boss is furious… our work wasn’t up to his standards.”
Feeling a pang of sympathy for them, you ignored the warning and stepped up to his office. You knocked lightly, then slowly opened the door. Roman stood there, tall and intimidating behind his desk, his eyes cold. But as soon as he saw you, his expression shifted—softened.
“Could you please forgive them?” you asked, your voice almost a whisper “Everyone makes mistakes.”
He didn’t answer immediately, his gaze dark and unreadable as he stared at you. But then, in a voice softer than you expected, he said, “Come here, princess.”
You hesitated for just a moment before walking toward him. He reached out, pulling you closer, and placed them on his head, leaning his face into your stomach. The action took you completely by surprise. Roman, the man feared by his employees, looked vulnerable. You instinctively ran your fingers through his hair, feeling the tension drain from his body as he groaned softly.
“Love,” he murmured, “I’ll forgive them… only because you asked. Don’t be upset with me, please.” His words were tender, almost pleading, and it was then you realized that despite his cold exterior, you held a power over him that no one else did.
