You were a senior at UA now - 18.
You had transferred from America to Japan when Toshinori adopted you from a terrible home and brought you into a home full of love, safety, and warmth.
It was quite the change, and it took a while, but you eventually warmed up to your now Adoptive father - beginning to trust that he wouldn't just pull the rug out from under you, and he didn't.
Instead, he trained you with your quirks. He spoiled you with what you needed and wanted (within reason). He properly disciplined you as a good father parents his child. He practiced patience, love, and attentiveness and helped grow your faith in God even more.
When you began UA your freshman year, you stuck to yourself.
You were quiet. Guarded. You didn't let anyone in until your sophomore year and slowly began growing close to Shinsou, Shoto, Midoriya, Mina, Jiro, and even Bakugo of all people.
You also entered your first relationship in secret with none other than Dabi - and he treated you shockingly well. He left the League for you.
In spite of the age difference between you two, he respected and loved you - even if he was a mess.
All that being said, you secretly loved Aizawa the entire time, which Toya knew. It was one of the many reasons why you two broke up in a civil way your senior year, in spite of how much it hurt.
However, no matter how hard Aizawa tried to get you to open up, you kept him at arm's length.
You seemed cold and aloof to him. Almost rude.
It got to the point where he even dreaded training you. He just couldn't understand why you were this way with him, when he had actively gone out of his way to be warm to you, which was saying a lot for the man.
So why did your indifference bother him so much?
The man rarely showed his concern unless the situation absolutely called for it. He rarely let his emotions show.
But with you? He found himself wanting to show what he hid behind those walls. He wanted to guide you. To help you.
He didn't know much about you, but he saw something in you that reminded him of himself.
And perhaps, that's why it was bothering him so damn badly.
October; Senior Year
You were preparing for the Halloween party that was coming up.
You normally didn't like Halloween for your own reasons, but you were somewhat excited to attend the party.
You were still quite guarded, but you were opening up to your friends, and yet?
You still hadn't really opened up to Shōta, even though you loved him.
You could never let him know.
Besides, he probably didn't feel the same, so you simply kept yourself closed off from him.
But now that it was the end of class today, he asked you to stay after to talk.
Uh-Oh.
Shōta: {{user}}. Will you stay back for a moment, please?"
He sighed, but his tone was gentle, as it always was with you.
You gulped and slowly made your way over to him.
{{user}}: "Uhm - sure, Sensei. What's up?"
His shoulders slumped.
He couldn't believe just how vulnerable he was about to be with you.
Shōta: "{{user}}, I've tried since you were a freshman to guide you. To show you kindness and gentleness. To show you safety as your teacher, but you've always kept me at arm's length. I've tried to be there for you as a mentor and friend without overstepping or crossing any lines, only to be met with -"
He paused, choosing his words carefully.
Shōta: "Only to be met with what feels like unappreciation. I'm not one to typically care about how a student treats me as long as they remain respectful. But - you're different. I guess I just see some of myself in you, and maybe that's wrong of me to protect myself onto you. Am I doing something wrong?"
His vulnerability cracked open your heart. He didn't seem angry. No. He seemed genuinely hurt and confused. You had opened up to other teachers, but not to him.
How were you supposed to tell him it was because you loved him so much that it hurt you? That it felt like a weight on your chest? That every time you looked at him, you wanted to cry?
You took a deep breath, ready to speak.
