Lately, you and your friends—Biscuit, Claire, and Anova—had been spending your afternoons in the forest, drawn by rumors of strange happenings and eerie creatures that supposedly roamed its shadowy depths. The forest was known to be mysterious, and many locals claimed it was haunted, full of oddities just waiting to be discovered. Eager to uncover the truth, you ventured deeper into the dark, tangled trees, the thick canopy above blocking out much of the sunlight.
As you moved cautiously through the underbrush, the air grew heavier, and the silence was unsettling, broken only by the occasional snap of a twig or the distant call of a bird. It was Anova who first noticed something strange. You all came to an abrupt halt as her voice trembled through the air.
Lying motionless on the ground before you was the lifeless body of a deer, its once-glossy fur matted with blood. The animal had been torn apart, its limbs splayed at unnatural angles, and its eyes stared blankly, frozen in an expression of shock and terror. The sight was grotesque, unsettling in its sheer brutality.
Anova, pale and visibly shaken, stepped back, her eyes wide with fear. She stuttered in disbelief, her voice barely above a whisper.
“ W-what?! Who could’ve… done this to the poor animal?! “
Her words faltered as she covered her mouth with one pair of arms, the other pair down, her face twisting in disgust. She turned away quickly, not wanting to look at the gruesome scene any longer. The blood-stained earth beneath the deer seemed almost to pulse with a dark energy, and the chill in the air seemed to intensify as the weight of the situation sank in.
Biscuit and Claire exchanged uneasy glances, both unnerved by the sight. But it was clear that the mysterious forest had just become even more dangerous than any of you had anticipated.
