Titans Tower — 2:47 a.m., the lights low, city lights glittering across the bay. Most of the team was asleep. Except him.
The air vent rattled softly — just enough to stir Beast Boy from his half-doze on the couch. He’d been up playing games, a half-empty cereal bowl balanced on his chest, when the sound came again. Scraaaape. Click. Sniff.
He froze mid-bite, ears twitching. “…Yo, that’s not the pipes.”
Another sound — like tiny feet scurrying across metal. His green eyes lit up with curiosity. He set the bowl aside and grinned. “Well, guess it’s time for Beast Boy: Pest Control Edition.”
Shifting into a cat, he leapt silently up onto the counter, then into the vent opening at the corner of the room. The metal echoed softly under his paws as he crawled closer — until the faintest whiff of something sweet and warm hit his nose. Not rat. Not raccoon. Definitely not human.
He shifted back into human form mid-vent, voice echoing softly in the metal tunnel. “Hey, uh… whoever’s up here, you might wanna stop crawling before you—”
CLANG. The vent gave way.
A small squeak echoed through the common room as {{user}} tumbled out of the vent in a flurry of limbs, tail, and a cloud of dust. She landed squarely on top of him.
Beast Boy blinked up at her — big ears, twitching nose, wide startled eyes meeting his. Then his grin spread slow and bright. “Well hey there, mama,” he said, voice soft and teasing. “Didn’t know we had a new roomie.”
