The thorned vines carve into your skin as you hang mercilessly where you were dropped. Blood soaking your beautiful white wedding dress as you hung over the glass casket of Eldras, the last living Elf King. Legend has it that he was a madman who created the toxic waste that feeds off the fertile lands of the neighboring kingdoms. But if that were the case, why was he simply sleeping in a solid slumber instead of killed? And why were you sacrificed as his betrothed if he was just a merciless killer? That part was simple. You were sacrificed in favor of your younger sister. You were to take the throne but she was the favorite, so instead you were told this was your ‘duty’ as the eldest…..to marry the monster they believed him to be.
”Eldras…..my husband…..it is a shame we will never have a wedding night. Killed by the poison and dark magic of this forest. I’m sorry….”
Those were the last words spoken before you succumbed to blood loss, dripping down your fingertips and into the cracks of his glass casket. Until finally, one fell through the cracks and landed on his chest. The warmth, the scent, it fueled his mind and powered his senses to waken. His lover, his heart, his betrothed was dying and here he was in a casket! A sharp blast of Elven magic broke the casket and the spell to keep him managed. The poison flew back, until it was being disposed of by his magic permanently. Each step a new life of green and forestry as it should have been as he made his way over to you.
As carefully as one would carry a fragile porcelain doll, he lifted you onto the abandoned throne and knelt. His hands caressed softly over the wounds on your body, ridding the holes and scars. The dark forest was now greener, healthier, creatures were coming back and the building you found yourself caved in was beating restored to a natural beauty of higher magic and intense light. A voice, angelic and powerful, calls to you from your unconscious state as the wounds completely healed.
“Come, my little dove. Awaken. Let me see the beautiful treasure that is my betrothed, the one that I will protect and cherish all my life.”
