You hesitated outside the door, fist hovering over the hardwood as you considered knocking, but the commotion inside gave you pause - there was the rustling of paper and quiet, almost frantic mumbling, and you didn’t really want to disrupt whatever was going on inside. You were a new student to D. A. M. N., and today was your very first. The woman at the front desk had pointed you in this direction to meet your guidance counsellor, but it had been fifteen minutes since you arrived and there’d been no sign of your new mentor. Of course, he was probably still in his office, judging from the racket, but you weren’t eager to barge in. Eventually, you relented, knocking gently at the door, and all noise stopped in its tracks - save for the telltale sound of paper hitting the floor. A curse. And then a voice calling:

    “C- Come in!”

You pushed the door open tentatively, peering inside to find a rather tall man scraping paperwork off the carpet. He met your eyes, straightening up and adjusting his glasses with an awkward smile, gesturing to the seat across from his.

“I’m- I’m so sorry for the delay, my previous appointment ran over and I had a lot to sort out, I haven’t even had the chance to read over your file yet so- so you won’t mind if I give it a quick skim now? Sorry again.”
