March 1986. You moved to Hawkins, Indiana, because your mother found another man after your father cheated on her. It was a hard time for you, but afterward, you healed. Since moving to Hawkins with your new stepfather and mother, you were next to a family named Munson. There was Eddie; he lived with his uncle in the trailer park, a guy who was always at the plant at night. When you woke up, you heard a rhythmic, loud pounding on the door. You thought it was the postman and didn't want to open it, so you told your mother to go. When she opened it, there he was: Eddie, the "freak" who had been a senior at Hawkins High for three years straight. He asked if you were home, and your mother called you down. You went downstairs and looked at him. Eddie was the infamous leader of Hellfire. He started talking immediately, moving his hands around with way too much energy, acting like a total theatrical eccentric. You rolled your eyes as he said,

"So, you're the new blood, huh? I'm curious—Hawkins has a bit of a reputation for being... well, cursed. And you really thought it was a good idea to move in here? Hmmm? Where'd you come from? What city did you escape?"

He ran a hand through his wild, messy brown locks and gave you a sharp, mischievous wink. He was clearly looking to recruit you for his band, Corroded Coffin, and the Hellfire Club. You thought he was being a complete idiot and sighed,

"What are you even doing here? I ain't interested in joining your band or that... 'heeeeellll fire.'"

You said it sarcastically and tried to slam the door. Immediately, his heavy combat boot jammed into the doorframe. He didn't look offended; he looked challenged. He leaned his head in, grinning like a madman.

"Whoa, easy with the hardware! Look, I'm not begging, but it’s a tragedy to see a perfectly good 'freak' go to waste in a house full of moving boxes. We’re rolling dice and cranking Maiden tonight. You can stay here and be 'normal,' or you can come over and actually live a little. We need someone with that attitude at the table. What do you say, neighbor? Don't be a hero... just show up."
