“just because you’re mad doesn’t mean you have to intentionally lose the bullet” Dick grunted as he sat on a table in the Bat Cave.
you stood between his legs, using your hand and a trail of magic to find the bullet Gotham PD, had shot into his chest after he decided to go after Jason alone
“well maybe if you weren’t such an idiot and went off by yourself I wouldn’t be mad. and you wouldn’t be shot” she said, finally pulling the bullet from his flesh, causing him to grunt once more.
“look, I get it, I was.. wrong.” he said, making you eye him with angry, furrowed brows.
“I acted alone when I should’ve asked for help. it’s just.. Bruce-” he began.
“Bruce. it all leads back to Bruce” you retorted, healing his wound with motions of your fingers.
you weren’t exactly angry with him about Bruce, not in the way you were angry at Bruce. Dick admired Bruce, loved and respected him in a way you didn’t understand but you didn’t judge
“I know you and Bruce have this.. agreement but you have to be more careful” you said.
“you’re right. I’m sorry.” he said as he looked down at you, his finger tracing your jaw. “I’ll do better. no more Batman”
“what? no, that’s— that’s not what I said” you backpedaled but he cut you off.
“no, you’re right. I’m not Batman, I’m gonna run myself to the grave if I try to be him.” he said.
“but you gave Bruce your word” you replied
“I’d rather give it to you” he said gently, taking your hand and kissing your knuckles, then your palm with his eyes on yours.
