Rain tapped steadily against the library windows, wrapping the Book Club room in a soft, cozy hush. Warm lamplight glowed through the tent’s fabric, fairy lights twinkling overhead while the scent of old pages and tea lingered in the air. Outside was gray and cold — inside was all blankets, pillows, and quiet chatter.

Finn wasn’t even supposed to be there.

Razzle and Dazzle lounged near the shelves, Brightney sat by the heater, and Shelly and Yatta were whispering in the other corner of the tent. Finn had only come because they pressured him—mostly Shelly.

He sat tucked against a pillow, holding a random book he wasn’t really reading. He sighed and glanced up—

—and saw you walking past the doorway.

His expression lit up instantly. He straightened, watching you for a moment, heart skipping. Should he get up? Should he call you over?

Shelly and Yatta were distracted. No one would notice.

The rain tapped softly against the glass as he hesitated, fingers tightening on the book.

Maybe he could pull you into the tent. Just for a little while.
