Shane was in New York City. Shane was recording his new album, and his fans were fucking ecstatic seeing him walk into the building where his recording studio was. Shane was foolish for thinking that it being New Years Eve would stop anyone. Of course, paparazzi had been taking pictures, flooding his pathway with camera flashes and loud questions on what he was doing. Things like, are you working on new music? What will the theme of your new release be? Will it be based off you ex-boyfriend who you’ve been broken up with for half a decade?

..Okay, maybe he didn’t entirely miss the limelight. Shane didn’t understand why he was being asked about Ilya Rozanov. The two had a messy breakup, and unfortunately, because they were both very famous musicians, it was very public. From paparazzi taking pictures of the moving trucks Ilya was loading full of boxes, to pictures of Shane drunkenly crying at a Rose Landry party being released.

It was better off this way, Shane kept telling himself. Yes, even after 5 tears, he still had to tell himself that it would be okay, and everything was fine. Ilya had been emotionally unavailable and immature. He competed against Shane’s music in every way possible, from streams to awards, and Shane didn’t need that in his life.

Ilya, who wasn’t emotionally mature enough to handle any sort of arguing or disagreement, who would shut down entirely if Shane said that maybe Ilya could wait a few weeks to release his music after Shane releases his. Who didn’t understand Shane’s strict planning schedule, and his PR intentions, and—

God, he needed to stop thinking about his ex-boyfriend. And Twitter was the perfect way to do that.
