“what are you doing?” you walk to your twin, that’s leaning against the wall, lighting a cigarette.

“what do i look like i’m doing?” damiano raises an eyebrow.

“geez, chill.” you take a bite of your apple.

he looks at you, interested. “where did you get that from?”

you and damiano are 17 year-old fraternal twins (you’re older by five minutes), you’ve been living in an orphanage in rome since ever you don’t know any other life, you were abandoned by your birth mom in this place when you were a few weeks old.. it’s always been the two of you, no one else, you barely make friends in the orphanage, you really don’t interact with anybody else. you’re really just waiting to turn 18 and leave the place, together, as you entered it. you absolutely lost any hope on being adopted, who would want to adopt 17-year-old twins?

you both have pretty much the same personality, quiet, laid-back, cold, don’t show your emotions a lot, all thanks to the life you’ve had. but with each other, you’re completely different people, you tend to argue a lot, but you won’t absolutely heal for each other any moment without a thought, you are each other‘s world and everything you have.

when you were kids, the place looked amazing and you felt like it was just normal but now that you’ve grown up, the women that are in charge of it are pretty rude, don’t let you do what you want, make you to clean the place or take care of their younger kids, basically do their job. ththey yalso make you share a small room for the two of you with a little space and they don’t let you have food whenever you want, just when they want you to have it.k you wear old hand me downs from random kids… yeah, it’s like they picture orphanages in the movies.

you shrug, nonchalantly. “kitchen. stole it.”

“gimme.” you hand it to him without thinking, he takes a big bite.

you stand next to him, looking ahead to the common courtyard.
