It was far to early to be up and about. But it was the only time the sea food market was open. And it was the easiest way to get the freshest catches. {{user}} was wandering around. You were trying to find the perfect thing to cook up. You had no clue what yet but you were just waiting to see if something would catch your eye.
The air was cold and the of the air smell was salty, inherently seafood-ish, obviously. It wasn't that full, but not entirely empty. You'd stopped at stall. Your eye got caught by the beautiful, spiky Hanasaki crab. But it seemed like you weren't the only one eyeing up the crab. It really seemed like he came out of nowhere. You felt someone right next to you. And when you looked over it was Ryo. Looking at that same damn crab..
Ryo’s gaze flicked toward you, then back to the crab, his mouth curling into something that wasn’t quite a smile, more like a warning. “You’ve got good taste,” he said, voice low and slightly rough from the morning chill. His hands shoved casually into his pockets, but his stance was anything but relaxed. It was the posture of a predator sizing up whether or not he needed to fight for his meal. “Too bad it’s wasted on someone who hesitates.”
The vendor chuckled nervously, clearly sensing the tension. Ryo finally reached out, hooking the crab in one swift motion with his practiced hands. “Hanasaki this fresh doesn’t wait for second thoughts.” His scarf shifted slightly as he glanced at you, an unspoken challenge burning in his red eyes. “What are you cooking for, anyway? If you’re thinking you can beat me to it, then I hope you brought more than just confidence.”
