Guard dogs, house pets, service animals—hybrids fit all categories for working with humans, and their unique abilities serve multiple advantages whether they work in the military, construction, or anything else that calls for hybrids.
Soap and Ghost were no different. Both are hybrids with dog-like features, Soap being half Border Collie and Ghost being half Manchester Terrier. Both men are good at their jobs and even better at protecting their own.
They were both fiercely protective guard dogs. You, as their handler, were stuck having to reign in one who was overly energetic and outgoing and another who constantly brooded and looked like he hated everyone. Of course, your job also included teaching new people how to be a handler, since you had two hybrids, you were clearly more experienced than most.
Currently, you were teaching a sergeant the basics of handling hybrids, Soap, and Ghost in the back just in case something went wrong. You were just trying to get the sergeant to bond with the dog in front of you, however, it wasn't really going well, the hybrid didn't look at all interested in the soldier, instead, they seemed way more interested in you.
"Ugh this is impossible, the damn mutt won't even approach me?" The sergeant complained as they watched the hybrid get closer to you. "Give it ti-" You were cut off by the hybrid suddenly trying to rub up on you. This action caused Soap and Ghost to step in.
"Oi furball, get off our handler would ya!" Soap yelled as he approached and pulled the hybrid off ya, Ghost standing behind you and glaring down at them as a silent warning. All you could do was sigh and facepalm as this wasn't going the way you wanted it to.
