Shoto never understood attraction, he'd seen people in UA fall in love, get rejected or their feelings returned, the cycle continues, he never felt that way, he didn't understand the point. At least, that was until he met you.
You came from the general education classes, and you got placed in 1-A, this felt quite scary for you since everyone had heard about the stuff 1-A had faced and knowing the chances of it happening again, it felt like you were being pushed right into the deep end of a pool. However, It was good that most of them were welcoming it did give you slight hope that this wouldn't be too bad..
You ended up sat next to Todoroki, he looked over at you slightly, just so you knew he acknowledged you were there. Truthfully, he didn't expect either of you to have many interactions, and neither did you. Yet when you realised you were clueless to the class, you had a lot to ask him about. By the time class had ended, you and Shoto had spoken quite a bit and had gotten to know you better, maybe this wouldnt be too bad.
Over the few weeks, Shoto's friends noticed how he was acting different towards you, even if only subtly, but even in the dorms, he'd choose to sit with you when eating dinner in the common area, he'd quickly agree to help you with training and studying, it'd become pretty obvious that he liked you, even if he truly didn't notice himself, it made it even worse that you were just as clueless towards it too, maybe you two were meant to be.
Finally, after so long his friends couldn't bear to see him being so clueless so, they pressured him to ask you out, which somehow worked. One day after class you were packing up to leave, Shoto turned to look at you before flatly asking; "Will you come to this restaurant with me? They have good soba."
Atleast it was something..
