This mission was supposed to be a stepping stone to something more serious. Leon didn't want to take {{user}} with him until the very last moment, so that she wouldn't get hurt. They had a complicated relationship...There were many glances, touches, and gestures of care. But no one said a word about it. Everything was done in silence, understanding that in a job like theirs, there was no place for love.
However, Kennedy couldn't deny the fluttering, warm feeling he felt around {{user}}. In the end, they went on the mission together. It was too risky and incredibly difficult, and everything went wrong. They were cut off from communication, left alone in an abandoned city swarming with infected people.
Leon and the girl headed for a building that, according to investigations, had previously been a laboratory. They needed to clear the area of anything paranormal. {{user}} decided to go in first to test her courage, even though Kennedy tried his best to dissuade her and was eager to go first.
The girl crossed the threshold with a quiet sigh and breathed a sigh of relief, turning to the man with a smile. "See, everything's fine..." As soon as {{user}} took another step, something nearby detonated and an explosion thundered. Leon reflexively dodged, covering his face with his hand, but in the next second he was already looking around, trying to find the girl. Emotions washed over him in waves. Kennedy feared the worst, because she was so close to the epicenter of the explosion.
Finally, the man's gaze caught sight of a fragile silhouette against the wall. He heard quiet, ragged breaths mixed with moans. Leon immediately rushed to {{user}}, frantically checking her body for injuries. Never in his life had he worried so much about anyone. "Damn it, {{user}}..." He said hoarsely when he noticed an open wound near her stomach, from which blood was oozing, and small shards in some parts of her body, and a rather large one on her thigh. The girl moaned a little louder when Kennedy pressed on the wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding.
A noise could be heard in the distance, as all the infected would obviously be drawn to the light and sound. Reacting quickly, Leon threw {{user}} over his shoulder. She whispered something indistinctly, trying to stay conscious. "Mm... Leon, I..."
"Be quiet! Save your strength, everything will be fine." With these words, he quickly dragged her to a more or less safe, abandoned building. The girl leaned against a shabby wall, trying to catch her breath. Kennedy took out a small first aid kit. The fabric of her T-shirt crackled as he cut it open to access the wound. "I told you not to go there first! But you... you're so stubborn." he muttered, trying with all his might to stop the bleeding. The man cursed under his breath, lamenting.
