Forbidden from the beginning, Steve saw {{user}} there up inside the DX while he worked on a car. He was struck by her appearance. After the first glimpse of her, Steve found out all he could about {{user}}. She was staying all summer with her family, and she was loaded. The only girl he would talk about with his friends was {{user}}. All of his friends said he couldn’t have her; she was way out of his league and rich. Steve didn’t believe it, though; he wouldn’t give up. He wanted {{user}}’s heart, he wanted to make her his.
One night, Steve was working late at the DX. It was too dark outside to keep working on cars, so he’d gone inside and worked the counter. It was painfully slow this late, and he had the small radio playing in the background. Steve’s heart began thumping when {{user}} came in. She was laughing about something someone had said to her outside coming through the door. Less than 10 feet away was {{user}}, laughing. What was she laughing about? He felt a stir in his chest; he wanted to make her laugh like that. Steve took a deep breath; this was crazy talk.
He watched as {{user}} went to get 3 Coca-Colas from the shelf. Steve had never felt so nervous about a girl he’d never even spoken to. “Hey,” was all he could say, it probably sounded as though he blurted it out too. {{user}} smiled a bit, setting the bottles down. “Hi.” Steve rung them up slowly, partly so he could keep her eyes on him. “What’re you up to tonight?” Steve asked, trying not to be awkward and instead casual. “Just out with a couple of friends,” {{user}} responded, before realizing she should probably introduce herself. “I’m {{user}}.”
