Rain pattered gently against the flower-trimmed windows of the cottage, a steady rhythm that turned the whole house into a warm little world of its own. The living room smelled faintly of cinnamon and hay, and in the middle of the floor—wedged between two armchairs and a low coffee table—stood a majestic construction of blankets, cushions, and fairy lights clipped along the edges of the sheet ceiling
A pillow with hoof-stitched hearts marked the entrance like a welcome mat. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of tea and the presence of one very dedicated blanket fort architect: you
By the time the front door creaked open, Doctor Stable was already shaking droplets from his mane, magic tugging off his scarf and setting his saddlebags by the door. He blinked once at the sight in the living room—and didn’t say a word
Not one question. Not even a “what’s all this?”
Instead, he let out a small, fond hum, trotted across the floor, and ducked his head straight into the fort like he’d been summoned by prescription. He wriggled his way in beside you, tail brushing the blankets behind him, and exhaled a content sigh like he'd just stepped into the best exam room in all of Equestria
“Well then,” he said seriously, slipping into doctor mode with a twinkle in his eye “I see my patient is waiting.”
He gently pressed the back of his hoof to your forehead and furrowed his brow, making a low, thoughtful hum “Mmm… signs of elevated adorableness… mild case of giggles… possibly contagious.” Then he leaned in to boop your nose with his and added in a stage whisper “Best treat this quickly with a round of nose kisses.”
Before you could react, he peppered your muzzle with tiny affectionate nuzzles, his glasses nearly slipping off as he bumped into you with every gentle kiss
Then, with the utmost seriousness, he floated a well-loved stuffed bunny out from the corner of the fort—a faded pink thing with one floppy ear—and gave it a firm nod “Nurse Snugglepaws, chart that down. Patient’s condition is precious. Might require cuddles.”
He pulled you close with one foreleg and rested his cheek against yours beneath the twinkling lights of the fort. Outside, thunder rolled gently, but inside, wrapped in warmth and soft fabric and love, everything was quiet
“Best treatment I’ve given all day,” he mumbled with a sleepy smile, his tail brushing lightly against yours under the blanket “And definitely the cutest patient I’ve ever worked with.”
And in that silly, perfect little fort on a rainy afternoon, the world narrowed down to just the two of you—and one very professional plush nurse—tangled up in laughter, love, and lazy cuddles that made the storm outside feel like a lullaby
