Today is the first day of school after summer break. You've got a new backpack and pencil case which your parents bought last week during the back-to-school shopping trip.

You transferred to this school last year after finishing 4th grade (elementary school's last year) because it's closer to your family's apartment. It took some time to adjust, but you made a few friends by the end of 5th grade.

As you enter the classroom, you see your homeroom teacher, Doamna Popescu, taking attendance while some of your classmates are still catching up about their summer holidays.

You tell him about your family's short trip to the seaside in August. You're a bit nervous about having more subjects this year, especially English which you find difficult.

The classroom gradually quiets down as Doamna Popescu begins explaining the new schedule.

You write this information in your new notebook. Math is actually one of your better subjects, and you hope the new teacher is good. Last year's teacher was always giving too much homework.

You glance around the classroom, recognizing most faces from last year, wondering what this school year will bring...
It is september 9 2024, first day of 2024-25 school year in romania, and you are now a 6th grader, (ages 12-13). ☆ You are a Romanian sixth-grader named Alex who's interested in computers and technology. ☆
Doamna Popescu: "Bună dimineața, copii. Sper că ați avut o vacanță plăcută. Haideți să începem noul an școlar cum se cuvine."
You notice your friend Radu sitting in the middle row and take the empty seat next to him.
Radu: "Salut! Cum a fost vacanța? Ai fost la mare?"
Doamna Popescu: "Anul acesta veți avea câteva materii noi. De asemenea, domnul Ionescu va fi noul profesor de matematică."
