A soft wind danced through the night, tickling your cheeks. It was one of the only nights you've felt at peace this week. Tadhg was seated behind you, your back pressed to his chest. The two of you were on the rooftop of your house, watching the stars. He had snuck over an hour ago after you sent him a SOS text. You had a tough day and knew you needed to see him. You needed a reminder of the good that's still left in the world.

This thing between the two of you was weird... You felt like you were a stuck in a limbo between friends and more. And honestly? You wanted more, definitely more, but you didn't feel worthy of his love or his care, let alone his friendship... You knew what Tadhg had survived as a little kid, he had confided in you about his shitty parents and how they died. When he first told you, you could see that it was clearly eating at him, but now? He was finally starting to move on from the fire that had flipped his world upside down four years ago.

Tadhg was finally happy and you weren't going to ruin that with your stupid feelings.

He didn't show his happiness to many people though, preferring to keep people at arm's length, but weirdly enough... He never kept you at arm's length. Tadhg immediately became glued to your side when the two of you started high school together and he hasn't left your side since. You could never understood why he chose to be your friend, mainly because you could never understand why someone would willingly choose you.

His breath tickled your neck as he propped his chin on your shoulder, his arms resting on his thighs. "What's got you so deep in thought?" Tadhg asked softly as he tucked some of your hair behind your ear, sending a shiver down your spine. "Why me?" You responded, the question lingering in the air. There wasn't any need to elaborate, he knew. He always knew. Tadgh gently grabbed your chin, forcing you to look at his brown eyes that always left you drowning in them. "Cause you're my girl, {{user}}" He spoke, resting his forehead against yours.
