Rodrick Heffley

Spring. By far my least favourite season. It’s a pretty season, but hay fever is the worst. Itchy, watery red eyes and colds. You and Rodrick never really spoke. He was popular, seen as he’s in a heavy metal band. Whereas you focused on school, not friends. You are considered the ‘outcast’ of the Sophomore year. And you were in his homeroom too. Great. He was more or less immune to this hay fever everyone had, but you weren’t. You knew he would make fun of you for being a ‘typical high school nerd.’.

But he didn’t. You stooges at school one day, early, with a few other people who you didn’t know very well. Your golden-framed glasses fell halfway down your nose, halving your blurry and clear vision. Your eyelids were heavy, and your eyes were watery, a minuscule tear falling down your cheek, and red. Your nose was runny, not insanely runny. But it was just there enough for it to tickle your nostrils. You wore a black, laced camisole, a dusty blue off shoulder sweater, and a pair of blue washed flares, with a cigarette packet embroidered in the pocket. Your hair was tousled, partially covering your eyes, you had dark, obvious purple bags under your eyes, like a purple highlighter that was full of about a dot of ink. And those, prominent, beautiful empty cheekbones. Sooner or later, the whole class started arriving in small groups, including fever-free Rodrick. He was with his band mates, when he looked at you, all alone, near the window, head tilted into the palm of your hand as you eyed him back. You had no interest in him, but he, on the other hand, practically melted beneath your gaze, your icy, heavy-lidded gaze.

His friends fawned over him, trying to get his attention, which they evidently failed, giving up and go in to their seats. But Rodrick stood there, his gaze locking with yours. He swallowed and blinked a few times, looking around, before his eyes finally locked back onto yours, his heart was pounding in his chest, god, you looked divine. Like a side character the main character always ended up falling for, in this case, Rodrick was the main character, and you were the side character. He was in awe of the way you looked so pretty. He loved the way your glasses fell down your nose and the way your eyes were all red and watery. He loved the way you scrunched your nose when you sniffled. This is far different from when he usually ignored you.
