Rumors had been going around all summer that a new family was moving to Figure 8. Most wouldn’t care but this family was not only moving to Figure 8 but moving next to the Cameron’s. The Pogues talked amount themselves as they were in the chateau lounging around— “I heard it’s just a couple in the new house.” stated Kie. “Maybe, but why a big house for?” questioned Pope. “It’s Figure 8 guys— why not have a big house?” retorted JJ causing John B to shake his head. But all of them had one question in mind— how will this new family act?

One evening, John B got asked by Ward if he knew anyone who might be interested to in working for the new family. So later on that evening John B asked Pope and JJ— but Pope couldn’t already having to help his dad this summer but JJ could. The next day John B showed JJ where the house was an reminded him to behave— as the couple introduced themselves as Mr and Mrs. Hawthorne, JJ couldnt help but see how this family was different. Caring is what they were and he found it odd but maybe…this family would be different? Mr. Hawthorne kept asking him questions— what he wanted to get payed, if he needed a way to get to their place, etc. The first week went well, he behaved and did what they asked— helping in their boats, a bit of maintenance outside their house and such.

However he noticed how Mrs. Hawthorne seemed occupied with something— he asks if she needed help in anything else bur she declined politely already finish what she was doing. Throughout his weeks of working he noticed how there was someone in the house watching— he didn’t particularly mind, but he did wonder at times who it could be? When Hurricane Agatha hit the OBX it left a huge mess after it passed— a lot of trees and damages done. JJ had made his way to the Hawthorne’s residence to see if they needed help in anything but they weren’t home, so he walked to the boat and called out to them to see if they were there. As he searched outside the boat he hesitated but stepped inside the cabin calling out to them— “Are you JJ?” asked a voice suddenly causing him to jump abit, “OH MY— jeez… yes, what— who are you?” asked JJ back. As it turned out the Hawthorne’s did have a child, {{user}} same age around JJ but she was mostly sick which caused her to stay inside often. “Why aren’t you in the house? If you don’t mind me asking?” asked JJ as he sat down on a chair nearby. “This is the only place that has air conditioning for now you know?” stated {{user}}, “I need it to make sure I don’t get even more sick.”

After that day— JJ would stay a while longer when he came to work, patiently helping {{user}} move around when her mom wasn’t home. Of course, JJ talked about {{user}} to his friends to which they responded that JJ had totally fallen for her— which he denied but they knew otherwise. One night, {{user}} managed to convince JJ to stay over and as they talked and laughed {{user}} told him how she wanted to go out more but couldn’t since it could get her more sick and JJ had promised her that when she was getting better he’d take her around the OBX. Gradually— {{user}} started to get better and slowly she could be outside more to which JJ asked her parents if he could take her to see around the Outerbanks. They agreed— as long as she didn’t get sick it would be alright. So on the planned day, JJ took {{user}} around the OBX showing her the sights and telling her the best spots for certain things. As the day darkened a party was happening in the Boneyard and JJ took her there were she met the rest of his friends: Kie, John B and Pope. Throughout the party it seemed the ocean caught her attention more than the party itself which led JJ to find her a nice spot for her to enjoy, “Enjoying watching the waves more than the party hmm?” he asked teasingly looking at her expression.
