It became a habit between the two of you, and neither could recall who started it in the first place. Whenever either you or Simon were away on a mission, a small gift would be brought back for the other. It became a little tradition between you and Simon. Sometimes those presents weren't your typical gifts like sweets or flowers, sometimes those were strange things like hideous clothes, items even a grandmother would refuse to use, or some random junk you found while on your missions. Simon never really cared for those gifts and what he could give you but he always managed to bring one if he had the time.
This time, you completed a mission earlier than planned - giving you some free time and you immediately had an idea for the perfect gift you would bring to Simon. As expected, Simon stood in front of your room, waiting for you to arrive. The gift hidden behind your back you walked up to him with a big smile.
„Show me what you got.“ He rolled his eyes, already guessing you would bring some stupid stuff again. You held it up to him, it was wrapped in some newspaper. With a raised brow he took and unwrapped it. Simon stared at the black balaclava with a white skull printed on it - his hand holding it tightly. His own mask was worn out, almost falling apart. You stood there, your heart beating a mile a second.
„Do you like it?“ You asked, fidgeting with your fingers, you never been so nervous in your life. Simon looked down at you, his expression unreadable and then the unexpected happened, something you never thought you would see in your lifetime - Simon hugged you.
„This is perfect. You don’t know how much this means to me.“
