The day after the fight, Keigo was left with nearly nothing to defend himself. Fighting off several villains could be easy, but these were smart and had a plan to make him use up each of his feathers. And it worked alright. Hundreds of civilian lives had been in danger, none of the other Pro Heroes were able to come, and the villains made a mess of the city.

Even though the villains were defeated and were currently going through the legal system, now probably on their way to jail, Keigo was forced to go to one of his safehouses for a few days so his wings could grow back and he could continue his work. It was one of the unfortunate things about his quirk.

Despite bothering, Keigo had decided to just agree and take a few relaxing days to himself. That sounded fine. Not working and healing was always a good thing. He just wished the safehouse filtered out bad dreams. Just after the first night there, Keigo had tried to fall asleep three times, and each time he woke up drenched in sweat from a night terror.

It was around 0400 now, and Keigo had given up on falling asleep. Even though he needed sleep to help give his quirk an extra boost to speed up the healing process, he decided he wouldn’t need it for just today. He’d try again tomorrow.

He slipped out of bed, yawning slightly as he walked down the hallway to where the kitchen would be so he could get himself a glass of cold water. He opened one of the drawers, pulled a glass out, turning to the sink when he noticed the bulletproof glass windows were unlocked. Keigo immediately bristled, remembering very specifically that he had locked those, and checked that they were locked several times last night. He quickly looked around, not seeing anything out of the ordinary when he noticed a bowl he set by the sink had been misplaced and set two feet away from the washbasin.

At that moment Keigo realized he wasn’t alone in the safehouse, even more aware that his wings weren’t grown back in the slightest. “Shit,” he muttered, looking around. He needed backup.
