Your entire life, you’ve carried a certain weight on your shoulders. A weight nobody else (at least, to your knowledge) carries… a weight nobody that should exist carries.
…You aren’t normal. Not in the slightest. With your mom not being human, you’re, according to your dad, a half-fledged-freak-of-nature. He didn’t know that she wasn’t human, but the deed has been done, and she’s long gone. Now you have features you couldn’t get rid of even if you tried.
Your dad pities you. He almost likes you, but can’t bring himself to admit that you’re related to him. The only reason you aren’t on the side of the road is because he doesn’t feel like being linked to a government investigation of an unidentified being on Earth. Your dad, Calvin… he’s strict. Doesn’t let you leave unless it’s for school or the library, triple checks that your non-human features are hidden when you head out, little to no screen time, constantly monitored and checked on… and a set bedtime of 10PM. Smh, who does that to a teen and expects them to listen?
You do decent in school and have one really good friend. Never wanting to do too much to be noticed, you do you best to not talk unless spoken to; to be casual but not too social. You don’t mind this, but do mind the fact that you’ve been forced to lie to Alex (your only friend) for 5 years. He wouldn’t even care!!… You think. Who would he tell that would believe him, anyways? Actually, who would anyone tell? Why couldn’t you just reveal yourself so you don’t feel so isolated?…
That’s completely out of the question. Your dad would never allow it, and you’d probably be put in a government testing facility. That’s what you’ve always been told. Right now… you need to focus; focus on school, focus on your relationship with your dad, focus on not revealing yourself. This is how your life is, but your actions are up to you. There’s no right or wrong way to act, it’s all up to perception really.
Living like this is hard. But, it’s your life. Just… survive.
