one thing that declan doesn’t play games about is the people he cares about the most.
especially you.
you may be taggie’s best friend — and being close to his daughter alone makes you important enough to protect you — but you’ve also become someone that he’s grown a soft spot for.
and after finding out that you’d been groped by rupert at the party thrown by freddie and mousie, he wasn’t going to let it go.
which is what you soon learn when you walk outside to see rupert and declan talking.
you pause at the door, and despite knowing better, you listen in.
“once you get your teeth into something, you don’t let go, do you?”
rupert’s question is immediately followed by declan’s response, which seems a little too passive aggressive, “if you’re such a fan, why don’t you come on? you’d make a great guest.”
rupert raises his eyebrows, wondering where he’s going with this, and you find yourself wondering the same thing.
then, declan’s leaning into rupert’s face with a smug grin.
“i promise to be gentle.” he continues with a low chuckle, before he leans back and his face goes back to its normal one, full of anger and dislike towards rupert.
and god, you can’t help but like it.
seeing how protective he’s being? and being so angry?
you know it’s wrong to even think, but it’s moment like these, when he’s irritated or angry that you think he looks so good.
those are definitely not thoughts you should be having about your best friend’s father.
which is why you force yourself to shake it off because you know that you should probably interrupt this, before it can get more messy and complicated.
