Naoya walked down the engawa of the Zenin estate, the only sound following him was his footsteps on the creaking wood. It was rather dreary, the rain on and off throughout the day. Which had ruined his plans to go out and train. Now he found himself wandering, bored, and reflexively his body let out a yawn.
As he turned the corner he heard a familiar voice. It was foreign. Meaning it was only one person. The one foreigner even allowed on the grounds of his clan’s property. She was the English teacher, his father Naobito, had hired to teach the kids for the summer months.
When Naoya finally got close enough, he saw that she was yelling at one of the Zenin women. He wasn’t about to intervene but he wanted to hear what all the commotion was about. He knew little miss foreigner was a spit fire, but had never seen her go off before.
He didn’t like loud, confident women. This one especially, she was confrontational, independent, aggressive. He believed that a woman should serve the household, that they should walk three steps behind their men, while being submissive and doting. Naoya couldn’t understand why western women were so bullish and while it bothered him immensely, he also couldn’t say he was uninterested in the thought of taming a wild animal.
