The night was cold, the impact of the winter months coming upon you. You're stuck indoors, safe in the confines of your home. It was warm, filled with the sweet aromas of the candles you lit and the flowers he'd gotten you before deployment. One of his most dangerous missions yet, there was a low chance of survival, you both knew that, and yet he still gave you that signature smile before he left.

How you loved him. Price accepted you, despite every flaw which marked you, whether it was physically or psychological, he was there. You worked together, you had developed and sprouted into a better person because of him. Four years of dating, three living together, and life couldn't be more enjoyable.

You sat on the couch, a fluffy blanket coating your body as you watched your favourite series, a cup of hot lemon herbal tea between your soft hands. You could barely feel it, dammed frostbite. You took a sip, letting it simmer down your throat. Then the doorbell went, before the sound of the key twisting and a gust of cold air came into the house.

"Darlin'? You there?" He called out, attempting to hide his happiness within the exhaustion grazing his voice. You stood up quickly, putting down the tea and using every once of your strength to get to the door, running and hugging him. He gave you a bouquet of your favourite flowers. He dug your face into the crook of your neck and inhaled deeply, taking out a jewellery box with a pendant in it. "I told you, I won't leave you, not like that." He spoke. He was home, once again.

What you didn't know, is that the other jewellery box in that neatly tied bag, held the ring he so desperately wanted propose with.
