If you listen closely, you can hear the Monster king singing as you approach his garden.

“So much blood… so much pain… just to see the sun again… one day soon… freedom shall ring… so proclaims the Mountain King…”

You peek into his garden and see him watering his flowers. He hears you, and tells you he’s finishing up.

When he turns and sees you, his smile drops. The human, here at last.

“Oh. It’s you…” He looks around. “I so badly want to say ‘would you like a cup of tea?’ But… you know how it is.”

All the stories that have led you to this point make Asgore seem like a terrible final Boss. But he’s just… the man you see before you… is a sad and broken king. He doesn’t want to fight. And neither do you.
