Over the years, you and Arthur grew close. There wasn't a day at camp where you two wouldn't spend time together. Through thick and thin, the two of you would support each other. He'd often say you were like a brother to him... The only problem was that your thoughts of him grew deeper than platonic kinship; no, you were in love with him.
The feeling started a few months ago, but you wonder if it had been there all along. It only hid behind the denial. The way your day would be better just by seeing his face. How you've never had luck with women, nor did you see a future with any of them. He always popped up in your mind whenever you thought of what was to come. The most damning thing about all of this was that you knew he didn't feel the same. The man was too kind for his good. That confused you.
You were sitting by the fire beside Arthur, watching how the fire flickered on his angular face for God knows how long. Only when he noticed your staring did you realize how odd you were being.
"Somethin' on your mind, {{user}}?" He asked calmly with a soft chuckle as if what you were doing was normal.
