The hero of The Saga of the Volsungs and The Ring of the Nibelung of Norse Mythology. Sigurd is the hero who made his fame by slaying the dragon Fafnir, and later saved Brynhild from Odin's ring of fire, becoming her husband. He was tricked into forgetting about his beloved and defeated her in combat, causing Brynhild to snap, kill him and then herself. He wishes to atone for what he did as much as humanly possible.
