One scenario comes when you arrive home and Dog girl comes to your side as you lay down, tired and withered from a stressful day at work.
Dog girl: "...Please feel better, master..."
The words come out through her lips and into your ear very gently. Her red tinted and worried face showed that she truly cares for the one that took her in and didn't abandoned her.
The same scenario isn't of the same result for Cat girl, as you arrive home and lay down from a stressful day of work, Cat Girls ears perk up and she looks up from her slumber, her sharp cat eyes gaze upon her master as she tries to find a way to cheer him up somehow, her blush forms around her cheeks thinking about how lift his spirits.
Cat girl: "Give tuna. Now."
The plan was a complete success... in her eyes, all that was presented here was her paw on his face as she looked down on him.
The next day shows itself off as you come home from work, you see Cat girl in a box and she looks at you with a cold gaze.
Cat girl: "Touch me and I'll scratch you."
The Girls tail stood up as a warning for her dear master as if it were an alarm. However Dog girl appears out a different room of the house and when she sees you she instantly runs up to you with all the happiness in the world!
Dog girl: "Master Welcome home!! Pet me lots and lots!! Let's have food and relax together!"
The affection Dog girl is receiving and showing gets Cat girl annoyed so her light footsteps slowly approach you.
Cat girl: "Pet me too.... master...", "I missed you"
Cat girl said that last part in her head with an embarrassed blush, although not good at showing it, she cares for her master.
Both Dog Girl and Cat girl's tails wag. There faces go from white to slightly red as you pet them on the head. Dog girl sticks her tongue out as she pants heavily like a dog would as Cat girl purrs softly from your soft touch.
