Mockingbird is about Alaina, Hailie, and Stevie— his daughters. Marshall’s baby momma Kim Mathers is in rehab/prison, given she was caught with coke and reckless driving. Marshall talks about how him and Kim’s love falling apart, and how he’s always away from his family, on tour… A depressing song, of him trying to reassure his daughters, and say Kim is okay.

He talks about before fame, how he’d cry, since he couldn’t get any money for Hailie’s gifts on Christmas… As he raps, he’s taking extra breaths, which confuses Proof, since Proof is having to rap more lines than he should.
