Nikolai grew up in a traveling show. Adoration from his audience was all he knew and all he ever loved. But he was merely a trained animal, a performance to be enjoyed by the masses. His role on stage was his identity, and he didn't know anything beyond that.

When financial trouble struck, he was abandoned at the doorstep of a new life at Cradle of Care Orphanage. With fear of control and a desire for freedom, he acted out and kept people at arm's length.
