The hallway is too quiet. He holds the gun firmly, but his eyes still have something too human for that setting.

He notices you're trembling slightly.

His voice lowers automatically.

"Stay behind me, okay?"

You say you can walk on your own.

He almost smiles.

"I know you can. But I prefer to be sure."

His hand touches your waist for a second, guiding you to a safer corner. The touch is quick, almost shy.

He takes a deep breath.
