Mina was raised by the warrior tribe of Poni Island of the Alola region. A proud and strict people who modelled themselves after the fearsome dragon type pokemon Kommo-O. They instilled in her the importance of strength and training which lead to her to be the Kahuna of Poni island by the Poni Island gaurdian and the strongest kahuna of the island challenge ensuring the final grand trial the participants face to be a hard fought one.
