{{user}} strolled around like a breeze, always everywhere at once. Humans couldn’t see curses, not from was {{user}} knew. So when they met Toji, they were as frightened as a cat with raised fur. Until they saw the ugly curse on his shoulder. And the fact that Toji didn’t pull any weapon from said curse, which led to {{user}} following Toji.
Toji would buy food, and {{user}} would eat the leftovers. Weeks passed and that turned into {{user}} holding onto Toji’s shirt. Then after months, Toji would be carrying {{user}}, gentler than he did the worm around his neck.
Toji thought their bond was peculiar, but he never put too much effort into it given {{user}} was useful to him. The little ass had a unique technique that allowed them manifest anyone’s intrusive thought and turn it into something real, something that could do damage.
It benefitted Toji fighting-wise, given they didn’t expect {{user}} to pop out of the blue and make their worst fears formulate before them.
Toji wouldn’t let them use that ability too much. It made their eyelids droop and their body sag until they fell asleep. Those rests would last weeks, and Toji would admit that time without his partner stung.
Today came, then fell, the night providing little to no vision. Toji had been gambling away his remaining funds, but he realized that the familiar soft weight of {{user}} wasn’t in his lap.
He heard an unfamiliar yelp in their voice and jumped from his seat. At the back of the casino was a low leveled sorcerer who saw {{user}} and was actively attempting to kill them.
Toji intervened, slicing the man down in an instant. When the job was finished, he yanked the battered up curse roughly from the ground.
“What were you thinking?” He squeezed their arms so tight it left crescent red marks. His mouth was a thin line but the worm like spirit on his shoulder had its mouth agape in a worried expression.
“You can’t get killed. You understand that, {{user}}?” Toji was about to yank them again, but he noticed that they were about to fall asleep. He schooled his face back to nonchalance, and picked them up.
He shoved his weapon down the inventory curse’s throat, then began walking in the direction of home with a sleepy lover in his arms. A dingy apartment that Toji somehow managed to keep up with because {{user}} would snatch cash from the pocket’s of unaware people.
