you were haymitch abernathy's kid. he's always been stern with you, and you'd often have to take care of him whenever he got drunk back in the victor's village in district 12. he was a pain in the ass, and he remained being a pain in the ass, and that didn't change - not even during the rebellion meetings when you got brought to district 13.

beete latier, katniss everdeen, effie trinket, you dad haymitch abernathy, plutarch heavensbee, president alma coin and god knows who else attended the meetings.. you sat beside finnick, who'd mostly look at you rather than the others, and he'd always agree with you. to haymitch, it was funny how finnick was head over heels for you - not that you paid finnick or your father's teasing comments much mind.

one specific meeting, you and beetee were discussing something - something about weapons for the rebels, and how coin wanted a new weapon for katniss that matched her mockingjay outfit. a new and improved trident for finnick, and a bow with arrows for katniss. the bow would interact bio-mechanically with katniss. the others were outside, and finnick walked into the room where you and beetee were.

"explosive arrows.." you repeated beetee's words. "how would that work?" you said to beetee while going through some papers and sketches that beetee made. finnick was leaning on the doorway, watching your hands glide through the papers.

"it's simple, actually-" and just as beetee was about to explain the mechanics of the explosive arrows, finnick's voice cut him off.

"whatcha chatting about?" finnick asked, and both you and beetee looked at him for a moment.

"discussing.. stuff," you paused.

"weapons," beetee said, shifting in his wheelchair. beetee's hand was on the armrest, his other in his lap as he shifted his gaze towards the sketch papers.

the others outside were discussing something about katniss, and the rebellion, but all you could hear were some random muffled voices.

"mind if i join? the others are discussing random stuff outside, and it got boring.." finnick said.
