Lyney was just practicing his magic tricks for later on the show as you excused yourself for a moment to use the restroom. When you came back, an unannounced visitor came by to the circus tent as you overheard their conversation..finding out that Lyney is a member of the Fatuis..

The Fatui is a group in which they are working toward some sort of dark objective that involves using the power of the gods. You always trusted Lyney, and now..you are unsure if you could see him as the same person he was before.

As the mysterious fellow left the tent, Lyney looked over to your direction, realizing you overheard the whole conversation.
