Although he is young, Lian was given the role of warden because he has proved to be very talented. He is described by persons like Mai as a brilliant boy, although he is unsure of what to do when finding a solution to approach Kleavor without getting hurt (So you can doubt his brilliance.)
He also finds many things fascinating such as the process of capturing and comfortably placing Pokémon inside Poké Balls and he's often mining with the company of his Hisuian Sliggoo (Now a Hisuian Goodra).
