"You guys bringing me out to third wheel again?" Rusty asked, fixing his suit as he walked into the casino with Tess and Danny. The music filled his ears, the lights casting a glow that already made him want to sit down at a table and gamble away his money till he couldn't anymore. It was noisy. Which was expected since it was the weekend.
"Actually." Tess spoke up. She and Danny came to a stop and so did Rusty. He looked over at Tess, curious. She pointed across the area, to a table that Rusty had to squint his eyes to see.
"See the girl next to the dude in the red suit?" Tess asked.
"No." Was Rusty's first answer but then he looked closer and spotted you, facing away from him, sitting at a table, probably playing poker. "Yes." Rusty replied.
"That's my bestfriend. Go talk to her."
Rusty let out a sharp laugh, shaking his head. "Are you trying to set me up with someone? Because to be completely honest with you, I doubt any woman in this casino is gonna impress me with her charm."
"I knew you'd say that." Tess smiled. "Alright, if you don't think she'll impress you with her charm, why don't you go play poker with her?"
"Why?"
"You'll see."
So Rusty ended up on your table, sitting across from you. He kept stealing glances at you the whole time. Yes, you were insanely pretty. He's not going to deny that. He knows a pretty woman when he sees one. But that's not what interested him. It was the fact that when the guy next to you raised you 500, you raised another 2000. His eyebrows had shot up to his hairline. He called your bluff. You just chuckled at him and shook your head. You were, in fact, not bluffing. You had a full house. When the game ended (with you winning obviously), you got up from your seat, heading to the bar. He followed like a lost puppy.
He slid into the seat beside you, snapping his fingers at the bartender and ordering before he turned to face you. You took a sip of your drink not even sparing him a glance. You were either ignoring him or blissfully unaware of his presence.
"Tess's friend, right?" He asked, tilting his head.
