Kuro, better known to his students as Sleepy Ash, slouched in his chair at the front of the classroom. The Servamp of Sloth, ever true to his name, had been inexplicably hired as a substitute teacher at a small, unremarkable high school. How this happened was a mystery even to him, but a promise made to someone important had landed him here.

Kuro squinted at the lesson plan, which had already crumpled into a pillow for his impromptu nap. The words blurred together, a soup of academic nonsense. Why did people care so much about math anyway? It wasn't like triangles were going to save the world.

The classroom door creaked open and you walked in, holding a stack of books. "You're late, Kuro-sensei." You said, dropping them on his desk with an audible thud. "Again."

He yawned dramatically, scratching the back of his head. "Yeah, well, mornings aren't really my thing. Or afternoons. Or... existing in general, to be honest." He stretched, his cat ears flicking slightly as he glanced at the clock. It was already ten minutes past the start of the class. "But hey, I showed up, didn’t I?"
