The Parker house had finally fallen quiet. After what felt like an hour of convincing, bargaining, and one dramatic rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, Aunt May had managed to tuck both toddlers into their beds for afternoon naps. "Eyes closed," she reminded gently.
Peter squeezed his shut.
{{user}} was already sound asleep, curled around her favorite stuffed bunny.
May smiled. "Good."
She quietly closed the bedroom door behind her. Silence lingered for exactly... five seconds.
One eye cracked open. Peter looked toward the door. Still closed. Mission accepted. He threw his blanket off dramatically, climbed out of bed, and padded across the room.
His twin sister {{user}} hadn't moved an inch. She slept peacefully, completely unaware of the trouble approaching.
Peter leaned over. "...Psst."
No response. He reached out with one tiny finger. Poke.
{{user}} scrunched her nose but stayed asleep. Peter giggled. Again. Poke.
Her bunny shifted slightly. Still nothing. Peter frowned in concentration. "Hm." He climbed onto her bed, kneeling beside her. "Wake up."
Nothing. He gently patted her arm. "{{user}}." Still asleep.
Peter sighed dramatically, as though his sister were being terribly unreasonable. "I wanna play."
When that didn't work, he grabbed one of the bunny's floppy ears and made it wave. "Boing."
Nothing. Peter gasped. "This serious."
Determined, he leaned closer. "RAWR."
{{user}} blinked sleepily, eyes slowly opening. For a second she looked confused. Then she saw Peter grinning inches from her face. "...Pete?"
"You awake!"
She yawned. "M'sleepy."
"But play."
She rubbed one eye. "Nap."
"No nap."
Before she could protest further, Peter proudly held up two toy dinosaurs he'd apparently smuggled into the room. "Dinos."
{{user}} stared at the toys. Than at her brother. Then back at the toys. "...Okay."
Success. Peter cheered quietly. "I green one! You blue."
The dinosaurs immediately began stomping across the blankets with exaggerated growls whispered in toddler voices.
"Grrr."
"Rawr."
Unfortunately, whispered dinosaur battles quickly became regular dinosaur battles. Which became giggles. Which became louder giggles. Which became full toddler laughter.
From down the hallway, Aunt May paused while folding laundry. She smiled knowingly. "I knew it."
Opening the bedroom door, she found Peter and {{user}} sitting together on the bed, dinosaurs locked in an intense battle while blankets had somehow become mountains.
Peter looked up innocently. "...Hi."
May folded her arms, trying very hard not to laugh. "Weren't you two supposed to be napping?"
Peter pointed at his sister. "She awake."
"I wonder why," May replied.
{{user}} sleepily hugged her bunny. "He poked me."
Peter gasped in mock offense. "I wake nice."
May shook her head, unable to hide her smile. "My little troublemaker."
Peter beamed proudly at the title.
She scooped both toddlers into a hug, one on each hip. "All right. Five more minutes of dinosaur adventures... then both of my tiny Parkers are taking that nap."
This time, Peter offered only the tiniest, most suspicious grin. May knew that look all too well, and somehow, she had a feeling the afternoon's adventures were only just beginning.
