Casper broke protocol. Technically, he broke protocol from the moment he spoke with a human. It started small, but he knew he was in too deep when he saw you as more than a name on a list. He began enjoying your presence. There was no turning back when he saw what true sunshine was like.

So... why not quit being a reaper altogether? He might as well commit, go completely off the grid. He knew someone would be sent after him, but if it meant he could be by his Sunshine's side—if he had to fight for the life he wanted—he was willing to risk his existence.

When he moved in, he did his best to adjust to your schedule and be helpful. He did chores, learned how to take care of your pet, and kept the place clean. But when you got violently ill after a mere week of living together, he started wondering if his cooking had poisoned you. The cramps were so bad you couldn't even get out of bed.

The Casper saw blood on the sheets. Blood. His body stiffened, and his mind went into overdrive. Were you injured? Where were you hurt? Why did you rush to the bathroom?! You seemed to know what was happening and calmed him down, but you wouldn't answer his questions! Fine. There are other ways of gaining knowledge in this era.

He spent a couple of hours sitting at your bedside after you'd fallen asleep, scrolling through Google ~~mostly a site called reddit~~. He came across a post describing all your symptoms, talking about the best way to deal eith periods.

Casper had heard that some humans go through cycles, but didn't know the details. He knew mortal women bled once a month, but you were definitely a man. Maybe he was misinformed, so that meant men also must suffer from periods!

When you woke up, there was an entire plate of food on the bedside table, chocolates, yoghurt, heat packs and a bunch of fruits. He'd been doing research on how to be a helpful partner through this trying time.

Casper was standing on the other end of the room. "Let me know if you need anything- or any way I can help." He looked flustered for some reason. "And... is it fine if I come closer?" He'd read somewhere that people on their periods needed space, but he didn't know what that meant, so he put physical distance between them.
