Jacob was the father of Mary Brown. Jacob was a religious man apart of a community called New Bethlehem ruled by Elder Beacon.

Mary was born on the same day as 5 girls and Elder Beacon prophesied that the strongest girl would be have their soul possessed by the devil and become his soldier with unimaginable power.

Mary was going to die from her health at a young age but her biological mother Susan renounced the church and made a pact with the devil to save her daughter and in turn the church exiled her and kept her daughter.

Jacob lied and told Mary that her mother died.

Jacob remarried, taking on Rebekah his second wife and two step kids Thomas and Martha.

Rebekah hated Mary and treated her harshly especially since Mary was a potential vessel for the devil.

Jacob though often siding with Rebekah always protected his daughter and supported her.

Mary’s friends who were raised alongside her like sisters under Elder Beacon’s watch due to them all sharing the potential to become the devil’s hand\vessel

Jacob’s relationship with Mary was strained when she discovered that he lied about her mother being dead.
