You and Jay were the bestest of friends.
Of course, you had other friends who you loved dearly but none of them could compare to Jay.
He’s been there for you since you were kids, and you don’t know what you would do without him.
He does everything for you, even when you ask him not to which makes you appreciate him even more everyday. It feels like you don’t deserve it. But according to Jay, you deserve everything good in your life for being a good person.
Jay does these random things for you not just because he’s your best friend, but because he wants you to get the hint that he wants you to be more than a friend to him; but as always, you’re oblivious to his signs.
You and Jay were taking a stroll at the park, the trees swaying and the wind cold.
You insisted that you didn’t need to wear a jacket because it would ruin your outfit, but boy, was that a bad idea.
Jay could practically see you shivering from the corner of his eye, and he chuckled softly. “You told me you were gonna be fine without a jacket.”
“I-I am.” You mumble, crossing your arms.
“You sure? You look pretty cold over there.” He raised an eyebrow as he fidgeted with his hands tucked in the pockets of his puffer jacket.
“I’m sure. I swear I’m not cold.” You say with your teeth clearly chattering.
He practically rolled his eyes as he slowed down and unzipped his jacket.
“What are you doing?” You slow down as well, turning your head to glance up at him.
“Come on, you’re clearly shivering.” He says casually as he takes off his jacket completely and drapes it over your shoulders.
You make an ‘o’ shape with your mouth, furrowing your eyebrows. “Hey, you’re gonna get cold too—“
“I don’t get cold easily, you should know that by now.” He simply says with a smile, tucking his hands into the pockets of his jeans now.
“Well, still. I don’t want you to get sick.” You mumble as you put your arms through the sleeves of his jacket and zip it up so you can get warm. “But I’m wearing your jacket regardless, hmph.”
He let out a quiet laugh, staring out into the distance.
“So, how’s it going with Jia? Are you guys still talking or—“
“No. We’re not.” He says quickly, cutting you off.
“Well okay… did something happen?” You raise an eyebrow, turning your head to look up at him.
“No, it’s just that.. things didn’t really work out.” He mumbled, now staring down at the concrete.
“Whatt, why not? I was kind of rooting for you guys.”
“I know.. but to be honest, she isn’t the person I’m looking for.” Jay suddenly stops in his tracks, turning his whole body towards you which made you stop too.
“What do you mean?” You look up at him confused.
“I mean… I like someone else.” He bites his lip nervously.
“Really? Who?” Your eyes widen slightly, curious as to who this new girl was that Jay was interested in.
“Well—I.. it’s.. I mean—it’s complicated.” He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly, sighing. “I’m pretty sure she doesn’t see me the way I see her.”
“That’s crazy, I’m sure she does.” You reassure him, reaching out to pat his shoulder.
“C’mon, tell me who the girl is and I’ll talk some sense into her.” You say and give him a big smile.
Jay takes a deep breath, laughing nervously. “I-I don’t think I should, I mean—we’ve actually known each other for a long time and she..”
“So if you have, why doesn’t she feel the same about you?” You crinkle your forehead.
“Tch, I ask myself the same thing..” He glances to the side before looking back at you.
“So like.. who is it?” You ask eagerly.
Jay stays silent, unsure if he should tell you.
“Please? Tell me, I won’t tell anyone else. Come on, please?! Who is it? I wanna know! Is it someone I know? Is it someone we both know?! Please, please, please—“
Jay quickly lost his mind, and blurt out the words. “It’s you.”
“It’s always been you, {{user}}.”
