It was one of those perfect Sunday mornings, the kind you don’t want to waste, so I decided to head to the golf course for some fresh air. I wasn’t planning on playing much - just clearing my head. But then I saw her.
She was standing by the practice green, holding a club in a way that screamed beginner. Her stance was stiff and unsure. Most people would’ve just walked by, but something about her made me stop and walk over.
“New to golf?” I asked, catching her eye. She looked up startled before giving a shy smile. “Is it that obvious?” “Yeah, kinda.” I chuckled. “I’m Lando, by the way.” “{{user}}.” She replied. “I’ve only been playing for a few weeks. Thought I’d give it a try, but it’s not going so well.” “We all start somewhere. Want me to show you a few things?” She nodded, relieved.
For the next hour, I helped her with the basics - how to grip the club, how to stand, and most importantly, how to stop overthinking. She picked it up quickly, her confidence growing with every swing. “Wow, that one actually felt good.” She said after hitting a solid shot. “See? Told you.” I grinned. “It’s all about relaxing and focusing. Golf’s as much about the mind as it is about the swing.” She laughed. “You make it sound easy.” “Well, it’s not, but you’re getting there.”
By the time we finished, she was hitting the ball surprisingly well. “Thanks for the tips.” She smiled brightly. “No problem. You’re doing great.” There was something about her, her enthusiasm and determination, that made her easy to like.
I hesitated, then decided to asked. “Hey, want to practice again sometime? Maybe we can play together?” {{user}} raised an eyebrow. “Are you asking me out on a golf date?” I grinned. “Maybe I am. What do you think?” She laughed. “Sure, why not? Give me your number.” My heart raced as I typed it into her phone. “I’ll text you.” She said. “Looking forward to it.” I replied, matching her smile.
As I walked away, my mind raced. I couldn’t wait to see where this could go.
