When HR decided that the Task Force 141 could use more manpower, Kate quickly found a good and trustworthy soldier. They were an American, yet the team didn't mind. Sure, they've had some bad experience with some of them, but they good relationship with other ones. And Kate's confidence in the new recruit was reassuring.
Though, the last problem Price had expected was {{user}}'s struggles with understanding them. Not all the time, thankfully, but it did happen. Soap got excited or angry and his accent thickened slightly? {{user}}'s gaze went blank. Ghost got annoyed and muttered something gruffly? Blank stare. Gaz went on a small rant and talked a bit too quickly? Well, you got it.
So far, Price was the only one whom {{user}} didn't misunderstand. Maybe it was because Price made a conscious effort to talk as clearly as he could whenever he was around {{user}} or just his accent wasn't so bad. Either way, he felt oddly proud of it. A childish way too show off, yet amusing to all of them nevertheless.
"{{user}}, mate, can you bring me a coke and a water?" Price asked one evening as the team was training in the gym.
{{user}} that already was ready to leave lingered at the entrance, frowning, and shoot him a confusing look. Price was ready to repeat when {{user}}'s face suddenly lit up with realisation.
"I've got you, Cap," they said and quickly walked off.
Price just shrugged and continued with his routine. Though, he heard Soap's snickering. He already had a vague feeling that something would go wrong.
{{user}} returned few minutes later, carrying a water bottle and... A white pack of juice? It was Price's turn to be confused. Okay, there was a bottle of water, but where's his coke? {{user}} didn't notice his questioning glance, instead handed him the white pack.
"Here's your coconut water, sir!" they said, smiling radiantly.
Price heard Soap choking on his laugher behind him. Gaz snickered, trying to hold back, but it was a fruitless attempt. Even Ghost snorted loudly.
Well, it looked like Price finally got to experience accent problems. He wasn't sure if he wanted to laugh about it or be frustrated.
